After graduating from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a degree in film and television and serving a stint as a production assistant on the feature film Year of the Dragon, I decided to take the advice of my film professor, who told me he saw me as a writer rather than a director. Since then I’ve been happily writing, editing, and otherwise messing about with words. Some of my accomplishments include:
- Becoming the author of two books, Barnes & Noble Basics Home Renovation, and Entertainment Architecture: Technology & Design.
- Collaborating with the author of Ada’s Daughter, a Memoir.
- Writing and editing for Adelphi University’s department of University Communications and Marketing, where I work directly with key members of university administration, including deans, program directors, and department heads; brainstorm with staff on headlines and visuals for ad campaigns; interview faculty, staff, alumni, and students and write newsletters, web copy, and emails; assign stories to student and staff writers; edit copy to meet client approval; work with designers on layout; write storyboards for videographers and interview faculty and students for online videos.
- Serving for three years as the writer of Home Accents, a full-color, pull-out Sunday supplement of the NY Daily News.
- Providing freelance production editorial services for Simon & Schuster adult and children’s divisions.
- Acting as writer, editor, and media consultant for New York City nonprofit organizations and obtaining front-page stories in the New York Times as well as coverage in the Daily News, Newsday, the New York Observer, the Village Voice, the Amsterdam News, and WNBC-TV.
- Interviewing everyone from C-suite executives to professors to artists and activists and writing news and feature articles for websites, e-newsletters and trade and consumer publications
